Overview

Insley Consulting helps charities and social enterprises ensure their big ideas have a sustained impact. We help third sector organisations to set up systems to monitor and evaluate the impact of their work and conduct independent evaluations of grant-funded projects.

We also support organisations to develop strategies for sustainability through business-planning, fundraising strategies, needs assessment research, advice on income diversification and community asset transfers.


Clients

Our clients have included health and wellbeing charities including MS Society, CLIC Sargent, Parkinson's UK and Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM); green-space and heritage projects such as Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Culpeper Community Garden and Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust; organisations that support adults with learning disabilities including Stay Up Late, FitzRoy and Culture Shift; projects supporting young people including Depaul UK and Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership. We have also worked with FareShare UK, Women in Sport and Parentkind.


Qualifications

Emma has a BA (Hons) in Arts & Humanities and is member of the Institute of Fundraising.


Experience

Insley Consulting was set up by Emma Insley in 2010. Emma is a former charity CEO, with 20+ years’ experience of helping third sector organisations to be more resilient and make better decisions that change lives and focus resources where they will make the biggest difference.

  • As Chief Executive she doubled the income and turned around two organisations from near-insolvency to a sustained surplus and healthy reserves.
  • Set up systems to monitor and evaluate the impact of volunteering on volunteers for FareShare, then conducted an Independent Evaluation of their Nesta-funded volunteering programme.
  • Set up systems to monitor and evaluate Love4Life, a friendship and dating project for adults with learning disabilities, which is funded by National Lottery Community Fund.
  • Evaluations and Needs Assessment of CLIC Sargent services – including Young People’s Social Work service in England and Northern Ireland, review of their Homes from Home service.
  •  Conducted extensive Needs Analyses for Parkinson’s UK and MS Society to encourage beneficiaries to become and stay physically active.
  • Impact Assessment and Cost-Benefit Analysis of Depaul UK’s Homelessness Prevention service and Nightstop Network.
  • Wrote a fundraising strategy for £3M appeal for Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership; retained to write two lead grant applications, and successfully secured £650,000.
  • Assessment of fundraising and income-generating opportunities for Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust, to inform their first fundraising strategy. Retained to raise funds on behalf of the Trust, which raised £94,400.
  • Has conducted income generation audits/reviews for Parentkind and Central & South Sussex Citizens Advice Bureau, Women in Sport, Rett UK and St Peter’s School in York.

Emma lives in East Sussex and is trustee and Chair of aGender Education.
