Ben Hickman
I am an evaluator and data analyst with over 20 years’ experience in health, social and political research and evaluation, and a strong track record in delivering research projects in the public and voluntary sectors. Since starting my own research business over a decade ago, my focus has been on research and evaluation work supporting charities and voluntary organisations. I can help with grant and project evaluations, development of Theory of Change and Results Frameworks, help with bids and tenders, and surveys. My particular specialism is extraction and analysis of data from existing administrative systems. I am also a Visiting Research Fellow at the NIHR Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit, Kings College London, where I undertake quantitative analysis relating to Social Care, Education and Health.

Qualifications
I have a BA in Philosophy and an MSc in Society and Space. I am also a full ONS accredited researcher, fluent in SQL and R, can undertake GIS analysis and I’m adept at using data visualisation software like Power BI.
Experience
I have run my own social research company for the last 11 years, overseeing all projects and undertaking the majority of primary research. I have been involved in evaluations of charities, grants and public sector projects, mainly in the Health and Social Care sphere. Alongside running my business I have twice been a visiting research fellow at Kings College London. Prior to this I worked as a data analyst at the Local Government Association specialising in labour market statistics and data standardisation.
