Alison Jane (AJ) Edge
Enabling non-profit leaders and teams to thrive – I partner with you and your teams to be at your best.
With 25 years’ + experience of working in and with the social impact sector, I understand the challenges faced by leadership and your teams. Having managed multi-donor capacity building programme budgets, I am appreciative of budgetary constraints. From being an NPO leader, board member, and consultant coach, I have experienced first-hand the commitment and passion that drives you despite these constraints.
As an ICF professional, my L&D leadership skills are enhanced with over 13 years of coaching experience. I bring a high level of proficiency and ethical rigour to my work, providing you with a safe, transformational space.
Whether you are a leader in need of a thinking partner during times of change, a team struggling to fulfil your potential and unsure why, a new manager wanting to build confidence, or an organisation in need of an experienced change coach, process facilitator, or capacity builder, I work with you to get to the heart of the matter, create new insights, develop new ways of being and doing, and move you forward.
Coaching, mentoring and facilitation is designed with you for your needs and for your people to make sustained changes to how they work for the good of the organisation. I have one exception to this tailored approach: Based on my experience of managing, mentoring and coaching managers, I designed my Project Management Coaching Programme for managers to build critical interpersonal and self-management skills – the power skills that turn managers into leaders who guide teams authentically, develop great working relationships, overcome project challenges with more ease, and deliver great results.

Experience
Following 7 years of corporate public relations work in the UK, I changed career focus and qualified in adult education. I moved to South Africa in 2001 as a VSO placed volunteer training manager on a youth development programme. At the end of this 2-year contract, I moved to a donor funded institute providing technical support to the South African Department of Health. As Head of Training and Teaching, I lead a diverse team delivering a wide range of capacity building programmes and engaged directly with donors and other key stakeholders. During this period, I was also a member of the Institute’s Steering Committee, Change Management group, and for three years, a board member for the NGO People Opposing Women Abuse.
I completed International Coach Federation accredited training in 2013 primarily to provide coaching to health and research managers following their participation in a people management training programme. Supporting managers to thrive and contribute to their organisation’s vision remains a key aspect of my work.
I have been self-employed since 2016 providing leadership, team and organisational coaching; facilitation; and L&D consulting with the non-profit/public sector. Now back in the UK, I continue to serve clients internationally as well as locally.
