I am a senior consultant specialising in high level strategic communication, executive coaching and facilitation. I work with senior people and across organisations to help them define and and then effectively communicate their values and messages to a range of audiences.
My experience comes from over 25 years working as a solicitor, journalist, charity director, company director and communications consultant working across all three sectors. I am also an experienced charity trustee. My clients describe my style as professional, facilitative, creative and consensual: with an approach based on generating and maintaining strong partnerships to deliver tangible and innovative results.
Through my consultancy, Sweetie, I aim to make a positive difference to the people and organisations I work with. I thrive in environments where people work with integrity and care passionately about what they do, those they work with and their wider impact and see effective communications as core to success. I am passionate about authentic communication and know that every organisation has a great story to tell.
I’ve worked with voluntary sector clients for most of my career including as a charity chief executive, consultant, interim senior manager and trustee.. My clients range from small charities to national organisations. I am a consultant with Lloyds Bank Foundation, delivering Enhance support to the Foundation's grantees and an associate with Money Tree Fundraising, specialising in messaging, including writing powerful cases for support.
My client list includes large charities such as the Disasters and Emergencies Committee, World Cancer Research Fund, Doctors of the World UK and The Elders Foundation; also smaller organisations including Community Links, Innovation Unit, Migrants Organise, illuminate and Kings Arms Project
My work as a lawyer, journalist, founding charity chief executive, head of communications and consultant gives me a rare width and depth of experience.
I have worked with senior influencers, politicians and chief executives as well as individuals supported by the charity sector and engage with everyone I work with.
My communications skills come from my experience as a print journalist, from setting up and leading a UK campaigning charity (the solicitors pro bono group, now Lawworks) work as a consultant on my own or with the leading social change agency Forster Communications where I worked on national health campaigns including Know your Limits. I have also set up a successful team as head of communications at an international company delivering government contracts.
