NM Fundraising

Overview

Since 2011, I have worked as a consultant to the charity sector, working with charities on a range of fundraising assignments. I specialise in sourcing funding from trusts and foundations, corporate partners and individual donors as well as securing funds from Government and Local authority sources. Work includes developing fundraising strategies and wider business plans, research and identification of funders, project development/strengthening case for support, proposal and bid-writing, developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, preparing funding reports, marketing and communications and mentoring/coaching.


Clients

I have worked for charities and other non-profit organisations in a broad range of sectors including organisations providing social care to disadvantaged and marginalised groups, in particular for children, young people and families. Also secured significant funding for a broad range of organisations within other sectors including Education, Arts and Heritage and Health and Wellbeing. Work has included a wide range of project and revenue funding as well as capital campaign work.

Client work to date has included Home-Start Edinburgh, Front Lounge Dundee, Red Note Ensemble, Columba 1400, Clan Childlaw, Edinburgh Printmakers, University of Stirling, Celtic FC Foundation, Smart Data Foundry and The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.

Experience

Client work has included:

Home-Start Edinburgh - Established a trusts and foundations programme for small charity helping families where no previous fundraising had been done in this area.

Front Lounge Dundee - Fundraising Consultant for innovative charity supporting  care-experienced young people, young parents and those with mental health challenges. Securing funding for core costs and a range of programmes aiming to empower young people to achieve better, brighter futures by building their confidence, skills, experience, and networks.

Columba 1400 is a leading charity supporting young people and the key adults in their lives, managing Columba 1400’s trusts and foundations programme, as well as major donor and corporate fundraising and procurement bid writing. Also involved in stakeholder events, marketing and communications and a range of other fundraising initiatives including crowdfunding campaigns.

Red Note Ensemble – Overseeing trusts and foundations programme for contemporary music ensemble reaching underserved audiences across Scotland

Clan Childlaw -Fundraising consultant for charity providing specialist legal services to children and young people across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Glasgow area. Developing applications and reports for trusts and foundations for projects and core costs, including multiple year grants.

Celtic FC Foundation - Proposal writer for Celtic FC Foundation for a successful major application to BIG Lottery for over £500,000 for a project involving those furthest away from the job market and experiencing health inequalities.

Edinburgh Printmakers, Capital Campaign Fundraising Consultant - Developed the trusts and foundations income stream for Edinburgh Printmakers’ £12 Million capital campaign to convert the heritage building ‘Castle Mill Works’ at Fountainbridge and supported initiatives to create campaign to attract individual donors.

The University of Stirling -Developed a trusts and foundations programme for The University of Stirling including assessing the feasibility of potential projects within a Campus Masterplan, developing case for support material, research and identification of funders and developing application material. Projects assessed spanned arts, historic buildings, technology/media and sports.
