Overview

Third Quarter is an independent consultancy, successfully operating since 2017.

Third Quarter was established by Kevin Geddes building upon the experience, networks and opportunities during the previous twenty-five years of working at strategic and senior levels within the Third Sector.

Kevin's values, passion, drive and ethos are firmly rooted in the Third Sector. Through his work he strives to work collaboratively to support Third Sector organisations and partnerships to improve, develop, inspire, challenge, innovate and sustain their activities across Scotland.


Clients

  • Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters – reviewing the organisational aim, direction, structure and future in line with the changing policy and funding context in Scotland
  • Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland – assessing the feasibility of a new social enterprise activity for the organisation, including financial risk assessment and competitor analysis
  • Soil Association Scotland – working collaboratively with the UK arm of the organisation engage with communities, scope out existing work and new partnerships, to assess the viability of a new strand of intergenerational activity for a Big Lottery funding application of £5.5million
  • CATH – working with this Third Sector organisation to strengthen a tender application to continue to deliver housing support locally
  • Anam Cara – working with the Directors of this mental health organisation to refocus activity, plan and prioritise for the future, rebrand (from Pink Ladies First) and relaunch as a sustainable, credible force locally prior to expansion nationally
  • No Strings Attached – ongoing work to support the strategic planning, succession planning and long-term developmental thinking of this music-based Asthma charity
  • The Gannochy Trust – working to review the operational and strategic activities of this funding body, looking at processes, communication, assessment and support
  • NHS Lothian – working with mental health community Public Social Partnership teams across Edinburgh to develop Logic Models to underpin their activity
  • Food Standards Scotland and University of Hertfordshire – researching views on dietary guidance information among Scotland population to make recommendations for future policy and practice
  • Bank of Scotland Foundation and Queen Margaret University – researching the impact of recent rounds of funding and recommending future policy and practice.

Experience

Kevin's professional background has been varied but consistent, focusing on national delivery and strategic development. He previously worked for the ALLIANCE, Scotland’s health and social care network and Third Sector intermediary body. Through his role as Director of Development and Improvement, in partnership with the Scottish Government, he worked to grow the organisation from a small team of ten, to a thriving set of connected teams, services, networks and projects with over fifty staff.

This experience has been invaluable in building Kevin's own consultancy work. He has carried forward his commitment to working in this way through his consultancy work, focusing on key areas and organisations who require the unique support, insight and networks he can offer in funding, partnership working, innovation and collaboration.
