Jim is a strategy and finance consultant operating in the healthcare and social sectors. He works with funding institutions, non-profits, and the public sector to design innovative and effective solutions to address some of the UK’s most challenging issues, with a focus on strengthening the operational and financial resilience of organisations, so that they can continue to improve health and social outcomes for the people they serve.

Jim supports clients on topics related to, business strategy, merger planning and implementation, debt funding, options appraisals, governance reviews, social impact reporting, capital projects, financial modelling, workforce redesign, project management, and due diligence.

In his previous role as Director for an NHS community healthcare provider, Jim led the development of major capital projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and commercial bid management. Prior to that, as an Associate Director with KPMG, he developed health projects for clients across the UK and the Middle East.


Jim has worked with more than 50 clients since establishing Cogent Ventures in 2012. Clients vary in size with income ranging from £0.5m to £120m. His clients operate in a variety of sectors, although the majority deliver services related to health and social care. Specific sectors served include:
