David Saunders

Not4Profit Wizard

Following a successful public sector career much of which was spent supporting individuals, David transferred his skills to the voluntary and community sector, initially spending three years managing a Queen’s Award-winning charity followed by over 15 years as a consultant/charity advisor for a leading core city infrastructure support charity. David specialises in:

· governance advice and support

· registration of charities and social enterprises

· the delivery of training to trustees, volunteers and staff

· crisis support and management including internal discipline investigations

· Acas trained workplace mediation

In addition to his part time employment, in 2019, he formed Registration and Support Services CIC (12082820) operating under the working name of Not4Profit Wizard delivering support, advice, registration services and training across England and Wales.

Funding cuts have significantly reduced the CVS offer of group support services across the sector and many CVS now only offer very limited guidance and support, at a time when it is perhaps needed more than ever.

Charity registrations have reduced due to a more robust and challenging approach by the Charity Commission. Rejections of charity applications were a rarity, but this is no longer the case.

David delivers training to address the need identified by the Commission in 2014, that too many trustees have a lack of understanding of their role and liabilities. Not4Profit Wizard training is highly valued and very competitively priced. Training is delivered live and direct via zoom or teams for all your trustees, when you want it.

David is passionate and committed to providing a quality service at an affordable price.

He is active in his local community as chair of the local parish council, and he is a Presiding Justice of the Peace.

David has supported a huge number of clients across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and is very well known across the local sector.  Although no longer resident in the Nottinghamshire area, he continues working part time remotely.

David is an Acas trained workplace mediator and has delivered mediation to NHS services including at Forensic Hospitals.

Training, registration and other support services have been provided by the Not4Profit Wizard to social enterprises and charities including:

Having joined the voluntary and community sector following a successful career in public service, his qualifications are mainly relative to his previous public sector life. That said, he now has over 18 years’ experience in the voluntary and community sector, much of it developed providing hands on ‘expert’ support in an inner-city area.

As a previously trained ‘speaker’, ‘negotiator’ and ‘advocate’ he has complemented those skills with his training as an ‘independent’ workplace mediator.

David is highly skilled and experienced in providing advice and support on governance related matters including charity and company registrations and David is a Strategy Champion.
