Catherine Andrews coaching and development

Overview

A qualified executive and team coach, Catherine draws on over 20 years as CEO of not-for-profit organisations, regionally and nationally. Her career began in community mental health, leading innovative partnerships across public and charity service providers before switching to her primary passion, connecting people and places, as CEO of regional and national environmental organisations.

Catherine has recruited, led and coached high performing teams; developed, evaluated and advised Boards of Directors; led business growth, restructuring and strategy renewal; facilitated stakeholder networks to influence and shape national policy.

Catherine coaches leaders and teams and challenges in business and beyond. Her focus is supporting clients to achieve high levels of personal and organisational awareness and performance. This has included the design and delivery of leadership and management development programmes for purpose led leaders, group facilitation, team and executive coaching, and the design of processes and activities to catalyse and support sustainable organisational growth.

Typically Catherine works with organisations undergoing significant change - changes in workforce, organisation structure, culture, business strategy vision & mission - working with leaders and influencers to develop their capacity to lead and support change.

Coaching is always a co-creation that enables team and individual learning and growth, towards the development of sustainable, long term solutions. Committed to inclusion and diversity, Catherine’s approach supports courage and compassion towards a deeper understanding of ‘what’s ours to do’.

As a coach Catherine brings empathy and positive challenge, a total belief in her clients’ resourcefulness, infectious energy, intuition and creativity. Whenever possible she takes the coaching outdoors to draw on the regenerative value of nature and reconnect clients with the interdependencies at the heart of a sustainable world.

Experience

Here is a sample of recent and ongoing commissions:

Facilitating the Board of a Community Business to develop and own their three year strategy and business plan; address internal conflict and bridge the gap between their ambitions and their capacity to deliver. Work focussed on uncovering shared goals, engendering a sense of ‘team’ and openness to challenge stronger voices and handle differences of view and rebuild trust. I coached the Board to plan and implement a series of shared conversations, partly face to face and partly online after the outbreak of the pandemic. The work enabled the whole Board to practice different techniques for listening and making decisions together and resulted in a prioritised three-year strategy that had the full buy-in of all Board members.

Working with the Senior Leadership Team of a national charity facing sudden & significant challenges to their income generation model as a result of Covid-19.  The assignment involved a ‘react – respond – reset’ approach, supporting the strategic review of staffing structure and roles, communication and consultation for two rounds of redundances and strategic conversations with Board members to enable the whole organisation to create a medium-term business strategy that secures stability and Covid-19 resilience.

Co-hosting online forums for leaders to think through personal and organisational challenges, expand horizons and build resilience.  The confidential multi-sectoral group offer a space for leaders from private, public and purpose-led organisations to explore current issues, share good practice and make connections that energise and inspire in the context of remote leadership and organisational pressures that have been heightened by Covid-19.  Once underway a group is closed to new participants.  Recruitment and assessment is ongoing and new groups will be created in response to interest.

Coaching the Co-Directors of a UK women’s rights charity who wanted to find a more effective way to play to their individual strengths & collaborate with their dispersed team during a time of significant organisational growth. Our work involved individual and team sessions to identify personal strengths and goals and co-create a shared vision and agree the who, what, how and when for the 10 year strategy.
